What are some forms of investment?

Investing is simply using money to make more money. Simple in concept but as recent times have shown, making money with money has its risks. Stocks, bonds and real estate are the most commonly used and understood types of investments. But there are many alternative asset types, most of which are intended for sophisticated and qualified investors due to the types of risks they expose their investors.

MJX Asset Management focuses on alternative credit assets, managing structured investment funds investing primarily in leveraged finance assets. With an explanation like that, perhaps that is why regulation requires investors to be approved. But like any subject, from reading to arithmetic, it starts with basic investment concepts and adds complexity to make risk/return opportunities greater for their investors. For example, buying a home for cash is a simple investment. Buying a home with a mortgage is a more complex investment. Buy an apartment building with a mortgage makes it even more complex.

What are structured credit investments?

Structured credit assets work the same way. Buy one loan or mortgage or car loan or credit card payable from a bank and the investment is easy to understand. Buy a second and the risk and returns change. Buy hundreds or thousands or loans, mortgages, car loans or credit card payables and the complexity can become tremendous. For this reason, the structured credit investor wants to understand each underlying loan or loan pool it and analyzes them in the same way the original lender looked at the loan when they made it.

What are the risks of investing?

Like life, the longer you are an investor, the more scars you get. Each has a story, and each teaches you to do more work, be thoughtful and work with people you can trust.

What is the MJX investment philosophy?

MJX is a credit-oriented investment management firm whose management goal is to minimize risks while achieving maximum returns on investors' capital.

MJX believes that combining portfolio management disciplines with thorough and continual analysis of issuer viability is the best way of achieving this goal and preserving capital through multiple business cycles.

MJX's investment strategy combines rigorous fundamental credit, market and relative value analyse within Leveraged Loan, High Yield and Structured Finance markets. MJX operates a disciplined investment style that focuses on delivering consistent superior, risk- adjusted returns to investors.
