NAYA JEEVAN

NAYA JEEVAN is a multinational, social enterprise privately incorporated as an “S” Corporation in the US. Its mission is to empower low-income families in the emerging world by providing them with affordable access to high-quality health insurance.
Our vision is one of disruptive innovation - to create the emerging world’s first “HMO for the poor” with an entirely new product, market segment and distribution channel by leveraging Corporate/SME resources to finance the scaling of low-cost, private health insurance in South Asia.
NAYA JEEVAN was founded in 2007 by a team of social entrepreneurs who have backgrounds in medicine, healthcare delivery, technology development, marketing and finance. It has entered into exclusive, non-compete agreements with insurance underwriters such as Allianz-EFU and IGI and will fully leverage the underwriter’s existing nationwide networks of quality, inpatient/ER-Trauma healthcare delivery systems. NAYA JEEVAN’s health insurance program is already operational and scaling in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

NAYA JEEVAN ’s goals include:

1.Provide affordable access to quality catastrophic healthcare to 40,000 lives in Pakistan by 2010 and 320,000 lives in India & Pakistan by 2015
2.Improve quality of life by monitoring clinical outcomes (as measured by reductions in HbA1c and Total/LDL Cholesterol) of the health plan members enrolled in the
3. HealthQuest program in India and Pakistan by 2015.
4. Achieve at least a 70% retention rate and a 10% market share in consumer health insurance in South Asia by 2013.
5. Generate positive cash flow by 2012

MARKET OPPORTUNITY & TARGET MARKET

There are approximately 40 million low-income employees and family/extended family
members residing in Pakistan. 99.3% of this population remains uninsured and 97% of their
health care expenses are currently out-of-pocket. Therefore, there is tremendous potential
to ‘institutionalize‘ and structure this health care expenditure through the provision of
quality, private health insurance with funds channeled through a trustworthy PK-based
entity that provides additional value-added services.

The private health insurance industry in South Asia is simultaneously experiencing a period
of high growth (40-50% per annum), but commercially available insurance programs by and
large focus on large corporations and affluent corporate employees and have not focused on
the base-of-pyramid population.

SERVICE/PRODUCT

NAYA JEEVAN has designed a unique health insurance product called HealthQuest™in
collaboration with Allianz, South Asia’s largest health-insurance carrier to provide
discounted coverage for catastrophic healthcare to low-income families.

Healthcare services are being provided by a nationwide network of hospitals and healthcare
providers credentialed by Allianz, while all insurance benefits/claims processing is being
administered directly by Allianz.
NAYA JEEVAN provides significant value creation and a sustainable competitive advantage
compared to health insurance companies by ensuring that all customer/patient claims are
processed efficiently and legitimate claims are not denied by the insurance underwriters. A
medical monitoring team will optimize patient satisfaction by visiting patients at the
bedside.
The out-of-pocket cost to a plan purchaser/employer will be an affordable $1.25 per child
per month and $2.50 per adult/month.
