Coke Studio 2010 Episode 2, ‘Will’, airs 20 June 2010!

(Pakistan, 14 June 2010) After the airing of the much-awaited first episode 'Reason' on 06 June, the second session 'Will' continues to take the audience back to the heart of the live recording studio to witness a new set of unique performances. While the first episode centered on the reason for creation, the second session airing 20 June 2010 focuses on the element that witnesses the formation of an idea — ‘Will’. Indeed in the language of music, the passion to ensure realization is as important as its inception.

'Will' features a total of five acts, each reflecting the philosophy of horizontal growth: where there are three contemporary pop-acts, it also has two intense performances by Pakistan's treasured indigenous and classical artists. Tune in and watch young and upcoming singer Amanat Ali making his first appearance in the session with his Urdu rendition of ‘Aisha’, a popular track originally written in French and since translated in almost 12 different languages. The first known attempt in Urdu, the lyrics and meaning have been revamped but the musical composition has stayed true to its original. Second in the line-up are Shah Jo Raag Fakirs led by Fakir Juman Shah with their acapella-esque track from Shah Jo Risalo and accompanied by their unique five-stringed traditional instrument dhamboora. Following the Fakirs is a unique collaboration, ‘Tann Dolay’, between the energetic Noori and groovy Zeb & Haniya. This light fusion track is about love and longing, and showcases a range of distinct vocals with signature Noori style musical composition. Entity Paradigm maintain the momentum at the Coke Studio sets next with their version of Sajjad Ali’s ‘Bolo Bolo’. The band's inclusion reflects Coke Studio's philosophy of growing horizontally and including diverse music forms. 'Will' ends with Rizwan & Muazzam and their traditional qawwal arrangement, delivering an intense improvisational free form ‘Naina De Akhay’, in tribute to their uncle, the legendary Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
