: DIL Trust UK held its second fundraiser at Claridge’s
Hotel
The event was made possible through
the generous financial support of leading corporations
and prominent British Pakistanis, professionals and
businessmen. Lead corporate supporters for the event
included Barclays Capital, the pre-eminent investment
bank, Old Park Capital, an independent asset management
and advisory firm and Credit Suisse, a leading European
bank. Lead individual sponsors of the event included
Mrs Zebunissa Naqvi, Dr Mian Sharif, Mr Ashraf Hameedi,
and Mr Naveed Riaz.
The event successfully raised approximately
£170,000 in financial contributions to support
DIL Trust UK’s efforts towards meeting its key
goals for 2010. These include rapidly growing vocational
training efforts in Pakistan and vocational training
efforts in Britain aimed at imparting skills to women
from multi-ethnic minority communities, expanding the
charity’s teacher training efforts in Pakistan,
and expanding the curriculum for DIL Trust UK’s
schools in poor and rural areas of Pakistan.
At the event, DIL Trust UK announced
the award of a £50,000 grant from Barclays Capital
to support the launch of a teacher training initiative
in Pakistan, and updated attendees on progress made
under a three-year, £75,000 grant from the British
Asian Trust, of which HRH the Prince of Wales serves
as President.
